Community Resources

Resource and experience sharing in the UK ORCID consortium is a corner stone of peer support. In 2021 the community Teams Space was launched as the main platform for discussion and resource dissemination. Please request to join the Teams community if you are a member of the consortium. Email the helpdesk and we will send you a registration link. Earlier resources created or shared by the community are described and linked on this page. Our annual events over the years feature member experience reports and presentations.

Information on the systems connecting to the ORCID API has been shared over time. An implementations list is available which will help members get in touch with other institutions at a stage of implementation similar to themselves, or those slightly ahead with implementation and able to offer advice and insights, particularly when using specific systems (such as specific CRIS, IR or other admin systems).

University of Oxford Scoping Study Report

The University of Oxford have shared their scoping study (July 2016) on ORCID implementation.

“The report aims to summarise the current state of the ORCID environment in the UK and more widely, with reference to research carried out over the past four months, with a view to providing a series of recommendations for further investment in ORCID-related activities at Oxford.”

Characterizing the adoption of ORCID ID in academic communities
A study (Mar 2018 – Feb 2019) to conduct surveys at institutions that integrate ORCID iDs and build a bigger picture of how advocacy, institutional processes and mandates relate to the adoption of ORCID iDs in academic communities.

By taking part, institutions have the opportunity to use a ready-to-go survey tool that has been tested and will be tailored to the institution. It would provide them with insights into the level of ORCID iD adoption and researchers’ perceptions and understanding, which could be useful at a time when ORCID iDs are being implemented or to evaluate previous advocacy. On top, there will be similar datasets from other institutions to compare to.

Prototype Search Tool
A prototype developed by Owen Stephens in conjunction with the Jisc team and the community as part of the CoRDa project.
